My Bourbon St. Tee revived sweet memories of New Orleans. Balconies, wine, Great cuisine, etc. My time spent there led me to choose this bottle from the south of france. Raw but not thick and perfect for relaxing after much present wrapping and traveling.

1. My favorite salad: Chicken. baby spinach. croutons. eggs. blue cheese chunks. lite french dressing.
2. Roasted chicken half. This puppy :) was only $2.50 at my nearest market. PLUS, it came seasoned. Of course I added my own touch though :>)
3. Omelet: baby spinach and On-the-vine tomato...That's it...OH and a tortilla :)

I went home to Chicago for about a week and I enjoyed so many things but one thing I enjoyed the most was the FOOD

They have the Best Dairy products in the United States partly due to having their own Dairy Farm that delivers their products fresh and without a lot of chemicals.This was my favorite Sundae; The Turtle made with your choice of Ice Cream ( I always get Butter Brickle) and topped with hot fudge, caramel, pecans, whip cream, and a cherry. YUM!

He's my favorite Mexican Cook, although he's not even Mexican. hehe :)

I just adore his show which comes on Saturday mornings on ch 11. (Check your local listings for the times) Anywho... I love his authentic salsa and tried to concoct my own version.

The man literally has a full fledge garden in his own back yard so some ingredients I had to omit but it came out good nonetheless.

Ingredients:
1.Tamitillos (green tomatoes) This is quite different from the typical red tomatoes but it produces a very great taste for salsa.
2. onion
3. on-the-vine red tomatoes
4. Jalapeno pepper (just a tad) Caliente!
5. Garlic
6. Cilantro
7. Lemon juice (MUCHO!)
8. Sea Salt

But Wait! You know I couldn't just eat chips and salsa all day.
Four tacos made with ground beef, moz cheese, avocado and of course MY Salsa! Muy bueno!

After a couple of days of mexican food you can get a little Cansada of it. hehe (That means tired people, Keep up:)
I made some wingllets and poured my left over salsa on them as marinade. Smart Aint I :)

Also added this stuff ::)))Bon A Petite !

I've been on a consistent "lifestyle change", not "diet". lol

So.... I thought I'd reward myself since I almost forgot how "real" food taste, and OH BOY.....

I made a SUPER omelet. I really didn't have any planned ingredients. I just rummaged through my fridge and came up with this...

(3 eggs, 1 on-the-vine tomato, Oscar Meyer's bacon bits, shredded moz cheese, onions, cilantro, and sour cream to finish) Yeah I know, I'm ridiculous :)

OH and I browned some hash browns and threw that inside the omelet before I enclosed it. Smart aint I? lol
And..... the results please
I feel disgusting....but it was so worth it

I had to wash that down with some of my mango lime-aid which 100% of the profits go to fund Haiti. Great taste+ Great cause= Winner!

Weird title yes, but these two go together like peas in a pod. You ask "Why?". Well, I was on an extremely successful healthy kick until I started working weird hours. I gained some unwanted fat. I say fat because that's what any extra weight turns on my petite body. I'm not extremely disproportional but I can get top heavy if I don't watch it. So....I'm back on track; eating healthily and exercising. Yeyyy. I'm sooo determined to stay on track this time no matter what.

It's like they knew how much I wanted a Vintage Coach and decided to torture me. SO.....I decided to find one that didn't have any bidders and I went for it. BEST idea EVER. I adore it. It's soooo ME! and for $16, it was a steal.

I've hit the Jack Pot lately in the Shoe Department. Great shoes for a little of nothing; Right up my ALLEY!

Organic made Hush puppies. Super cute unique shoe. I snagged these from Ross for $12.99

( Below) These lovelies were bought at T.J maxx. They're by a french brand named Arche. I got them for $20.00. On the Arche website which I adore, they are about $295. I would say I got a bit of a price reduction, wouldn't you? :)

(Below) No I'm not auditioning for Orphan Annie :) I really wanted some 1920's looking black ankle boots and after all the searching I did these were the cheapest. Who would have thought these type of boots would cost a fortune now. These are made by a company called Fitzwell and I got them from an outlet store for $15.oo. They're regular $69. Whoop Whoop! :)

Pumpkin Oatmeal failure

This morning I tried for the second time to make EatLiveRun's (www.eatliverun.com) pumpkin oatmeal. Check her Blog out. She's a great. Anyway, this was my second time trying it. The recipe has egg whites which really give the oatmeal ALOT of volume. However, I cannot avoid getting nasty pieces of dried egg in my finished product. I stirred it the entire time on LOW heat and still, Egg in my Oatmeal! GRRRR! What the heck am I doing wrong? Should I not use Quaker Oats? Hmmm.

After I was done I added some of my really delicious almond butter by Kettle. I bought it at Whole Foods .

I also sprinkled a little cinnamon on top which is good with any oatmeal.

It Looked so scrumptious but I got a mouth full of YUCK when I tasted it.

I settled for just plain oatmeal with a little butter and a splash of cream :) It was delish!

Maybe I'll get the nerve to try the pumpkin thing again.... IN the far future :)

My mom always told me that my hair looked its best when I wasn't trying to make it look good.
I think she's right, although I'm not telling her that :)

I literally was wearing crusty braids underneath an old hat for about a week. When I unleashed the dragon I was horrified. I planned to wash my hair and make new braids (or twists) but when I took my hair down I was surprised that it actually looked O.K. I wore it out for one day before washing.

My curls looks defined and it had great body from me using less product.

After watching a video by buildable beauty on You Tube I had to go and get me some Mane 'n Tail hair detangler.

Mane 'n tail is a solution for tangles and knots.It was about $5 . It promises to make your hair silky and reduce knots in your hair, and I have to say, I think it does a decent job.

I washed my hair and conditioned as usual with my Queen Helene conditioner. When making my old faithful two strand twists I used Shea butter, Paul Mitchell's detangling conditioner and shine lotion, and I threw in my new Mane 'n Tail detangler. I know what you're thinking but although I got good results when just using the first two products, less hair was lost when I also used the Mane 'n tail, and we all know that retaining hair is the key to getting that long hair so many of us want :)

Learning how to cook has been sort of a bitter-sweet thing for me.
In between eating potato omelets and greens and cornbread with lemon herb roasted chicken has been quickly converting to back and belly fat :(

Don't fret, I'm getting it under control.

Instead of a late dinner I settled for something to tie me over til breakfast;
A small plate of cottage cheese and pineapples. Not super healthy but compared to eating dinner at 9:00pm, a lot better.

Then......
I Had the most amazing breakfast this SUPER BOWL MORNING.

Potatoes are hearty but they pack loads of carbs. Instead of the omelet, I made two pancakes; one with sliced bananas and one with fresh blueberrys. They were AMAZING.

I skipped my Dunkin Donuts coffee and had apple spice tea sweetened with organic honey and lemon. Fantastico!

Now don't play like you never shopped for others before Christmas and ended up buying yourself stuff in the process. I went to my local outlet store...Did I mention I LOVE outlets? Anyways, I went shopping for gifts and saw this really THICK, COMFORTABLE, scarf by Nautica. It's a sand/cream color and it's absolutely perfect for this yucky weather.
While thumbing through this mess of a stocking rack I found two pieces that I love. I'm a big Tights person and these are so unique I just had to grab them for only $1 each. The first is a black tight with pink and blue dots and the other one has a gorgeous gold print that's sort of hard to describe :(
And lastly, I found the most amazing pair of slippers. They're by Totes Isotoner and I'm happy to have ran into these mugs.lol They are so comfy and I snagged them for only $5. These puppies are going for about $20 on their website http://www.totes-isotoner.com. Yeah boi!

Even Beyonce with her often "classic" look can get a little funky sometimes. This is a rocker/girlie creation that caught my eye.

As beautiful as Holly is she sometimes appeared a little plain at times in the past. (I'm not hating, I'm just saying, there's pretty and there's interesting) However she's also getting a little edgier while staying very put-together at the same time. Loves it!

This simple "clean face" look is eye-catching because of it's simplicity. I shy away from blond hair because it's so overdone sometimes, however this doesn't scream "BABS" to me.lol It actually looks soft when paired with a simple face.
And finally, Rihanna. Gotta love this girl. She will literally try anything and for some reason it works. Her style is definitely signature including this "Animal Kingdom" hair she's rockin. I'll admit it, I wouldn't dare take the risk but I gotta hand it to her for breaking fashion barriers.

Hello. Okay, is it just me or is anyone else loving the blazer look. Personally, I've always loved blazers. The only downside with it's popularity now is that they're getting pricey, but don't freight! There are ALWAYS ways around breaking the bank.

First, there are a BILLION really nice blazers at thrift stores. I mean, seriously, I've seen everything from J Crew to Banana Republic and other really nice brands there. And the colors and textures (corduroy, satin, velvet). I mean, you name it, they have it.

A little dry cleaning and you've basically saved a ton of money and you probably have a better quality jacket.

I got this for really cheap at, of course, T.J Maxx for about $7. I literally wear it everywhere from church to seeing a movie. Blazers can go with ANY look.

Lovin my fingerless gloves

I have been wanting some of these gloves for so so long.

I didn't shop around for the best price but I still didn't pay too much. I saw some online for $15-$30 bucks but please, I didn't want them That bad. I went to Target and got the beige long ones for about $10 and the short red ones for $9.

These bad boys can spice up any simple jeans and T shirt look or whatever.

So...I was doing excellent today until about 5:45pm

MY Healthy Day (or somewhat healthy)

woke up around 8:00 (a.m) and did 1 hour of advanced Tae Bo. Seriously, if you guys really want to get in shape you need to get some Billy Blank into your life. He is awesome at making you feel like your about to collapse, but you work your butt off. REALLY!
Showered, co-washed hair, made two strand twists, painted nails (made YouTube vid)
Ate an awesome bowl of Cascadian Farm Organic oats with banana slices. YUM Oh and a cup of coffee.

Did a million errands including laundromat (Finished my take home test before class tonight)
OK, this is where I messed up. I was hungry and did not have time to make a salad at home as planned so I made the mistake at grabbing a McChicken and Small Fry from Mickey D's. The only good thing is that I didn't finish. I felt like I was eating an entire Chicken. Reason being is when you don't eat fast food for a long time, it feels like too much when you do. This is coming from a person who was still hungry after a Big Mac Meal just a year ago. Big Improvement. I'll have to get more disciplined about situations like these.
After my marketing class I settled down with the last of my banana pudding. So Delish!

It wasn't the worst day thanks to Billy, but I plan to do much better in the future.

Ok... Big Hello to all of you. so... I've been bad lately :( I feel fine but I have been super lazy with my exercising routine, So today I was determined to get a good run in.

My lovely day:

1. Worked, even though it was my off day. I left early (6:30am-10:30am)

2. Jogged (trail is 3 miles but because of construction and detour it was ~3.5 miles)

I finished in 45 minutes. I know that's not mind blowing but the trail I jog has more hills than you can imagine so I'm really getting my work-out on.lol
Plus I used to do 3 miles in the same time so I've improved :) YEAH!

3. Did a little shopping. Got 2 shirts from T.J max (on sale for $10 and $5 ) and a pair of regular blue jeans for $2 from NBC clothing- yes TWO DOLLARS! They're not anything mind blowing but they fit well and are simple enough to pair with something more popping.

They look rather lame but they fit well and they're versatile.

I absolutely love this shirt and for $5, I couldn't pass it up. Pair it with some jeans, leggings, tights, shorts, whatever you want.
This shirt style is the fashion trend right now. It gives off a slouchy yet fashionable look that's popular today. You can play with this and dress it up or down depending on your bottom piece, hair, and accessories.

Also...

4. Went to class (Principles of Marketing) Brought everyone donuts just for fun. Got out of class early at about 7:45PM

5. Updated my blog (How sweet of me) It's time to lay it down...Bye!

Really family, Procrastination can creep into your life very unintentionally. I've dealt with this issue for some time. I'm really focusing on doing what I need to do instead of putting things (i.e exercising, studying, reading the bible, etc) off til a later date. It only hurts in the end. Life doesn't wait on anyone so live everyday to the fullest. I plan to. God Bless.

It has been 18 months of natural hair growing and " I"M SO EXITED...AND I JUST CAN'T HIDE IT".LOL Okay...cornball as usual but really, I flat ironed my tresses and I was even surprised by the results. My hair has grown soooo much. I really hadn't noticed since most of the time it's in raggedy braids, underneath a hat, or just pulled back. Even when it's in a fro it's very hard to tell its growth because of the super tight curls I have. I can't wait until my 2 yr mark. I wonder how long it will be then? Guess I'll try to be patient til that time comes.

All are by Mac but bets believe I'm a true believer of drug store product. I also Love NYX and NYC colors.

I even tried my favorite NYC fuchsia color with my Mac "Trimming Talk". You'd be surprised how similar they are. Felt like making a return.lol Oh well, I know to shop around next time.

Fleshpot is discontinued but colors like Creme D'nude and Gel are similar. Enjoy. The colors are so so so much more vibrant than these pictures show. Bye and Be Blessed.

So.... Well, I'm still determined to better my diet and exercise regularly. I've been going jogging (usually 2-3 miles) about three times a week. With my schedule, that's all I can commit to right now. I'm not over-eating and I'm preparing more meals ahead of time so I don't find myself grabbing something at fast food joints. It's going pretty well.

I treated myself to a Chicago-style deep dish pizza because it was my mom's birthday. UMm UMm good. The only sucky thing is that it turned into meals for us for about 3 days since it was so FREAKIN huge:( I have to work extra hard now just to make up for that Monstrous pizza.

The jogging is going well. I have more energy and I know it sounds strange but I'm actually happier and I feel better about myself. Weird, I know, but not really, says some specialists. According to Mark Dombeck, Ph.D at Mental Help.Net, When you exercise regularly, you tone your body and metabolism, regulates stress hormones like cortisol, and promotes the release of endorphins (morphine-like substances that your body naturally releases when you exercise). I encourage everyone get some type of exercise, whether it be jogging, running, walking, bike-riding, etc.. Lets stay strong, live long, and stay happy ;)

Hello Bloggers, I've been M.I.A for a while. Here's the deal. Ok. I was thinking about this mega quesadilla meal I got while vacationing in Houston Tx at Chacos (Yum),and my mouth started to water. That got me thinking about an issue I've been avoiding lately. Yes, I Love hair and makeup, but it's been on my mind that health is an issue that is being greatly overshadowed by beauty. So.... So, I've been natural for about 1 year and 2 months. Well, it's mostly been pretty nice. For my naturals out there, you know we have our bad days where we dont know what to do with this stuff :) However, for the most part I've loved the experience and I can't even imagine doing the relaxer again. I'm not againt them and I do like some straight styles, but for me, nappy 4 life. Its just so cute and different. I feel like I'm finally Me and that feels great
